Puerto
Vallarta Dreaming by Rob Parker
How do you get relief from the
cold north winds of the Canadian climate? Just say "PVM". Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico. Set amidst the magnificent Sierra Madre mountains,
this traditional Mexican village comes complete with cobblestone streets,
and the ambiance of tropical flowers. Friendly citizens provide ample dining
opportunities and shopping adventures for both the locals and tourists
alike. Your first visit to the area may be a winter getaway but the appeal
of this region is so inviting many people are purchasing homes so they
can embrace the culture and climate of Puerto Vallarta any time.
Puerto Vallarta, is located
on the Pacific coast of Mexico along Banderas Bay. The temperature remains
warm year-round, with evening temperatures cooling off the day. What could
be more rejuvenating than spending time enjoying a walk on a sandy beach,
listening to the ocean surf? According to the "Travel and Leisure Magazine
Readers Survey," Puerto Vallarta has been named the best beach area in
Latin America. Make every day a beach day, with 25 miles of glorious beaches
for walking, sunbathing and exploring. The local currency is the peso and
of course your credit card is accepted almost everywhere. Over the years
increased tourism and foreign owned real estate has brought attention to
the water quality. Most of the restaurants have access to purified water
and ice and are washing their salad products for ensured health and safety.
This region of Mexico is
highly populated by tourist and seasonal residents. Hence there are ample
activities to keep you busy, and wonderful restaurant opportunities offering
local and continental fare. A diverse repertoire of recreational pastimes
such as sailing, golfing, tennis, deep sea fishing, snorkeling, hot air
ballooning, kayaking, jungle tours, horse back riding and excursions to
over 30 art galleries and public buildings are at your doorstep for you
to enjoy. If your idea of traveling and sightseeing includes wildlife you
will be excited to know that the humpback whale winters in Banderas Bay
every year.
Other ocean attractions include
the dolphins, giant manta and sea turtles. Avid bird watchers will thrive
in this tropical region as they experience the sighting of the "Laughing
Falcon" or "Blue Footed Booby." More than 100 exotic birds reside in the
Puerto Vallarta area.
Puerto Vallarta transportation
is easily accessed through the abundant supply of taxis that operate throughout
the town. The average fare is about $3.00 USD. Traveling the length of
the town will cost about $6.00 USD. Interestingly enough taxi fares are
posted in the daily newspaper and most major hotels. Remember you are in
Mexico and Mexican entrepreneurs are renowned for price negotiation even
on travel expenses. It used to be that buying real estate was cash deals
only in Mexico; this is no longer true.
Financing for real estate
within Mexico can be arranged. So don't let the information of the past
deter you from having your dream home in Puerto Vallarta.
