Nanjing travel info for your China vacations - 2 days in Nanjing
by Shane Lee

This article is about the China vacations and you can find some useful information in it if you are planning your China vacations now.

Nanjing is a city with a long history. It is located in the lower Yangtze River drainage basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Nanjing has always been one of China's most important cities. Apart from having been the capital of China for six dynasties and of the Republic of China, Nanjing has also served as a national hub of education, research, transportation and tourism throughout history. With an urban population of over five million, it is also the second largest commercial center in the East China region, after Shanghai.

NanjingThe first day:

I started from Shanghai at 7:00 am and caught the train (8:53 am) from Shanghai to Nanjing. The train arrived at Nanjing at 11:00 am. The hotel I booked online is very close to the Nanjing railway station and is only about 10 minutes' walk from the station. Here is the info about this hotel:

Name: Jingjiang Inn (Huangjiaweilu Street).
Address: 41-1 Huangjiaweilu Street, Xiaguan District, Nanjing, China.
zip code: 210037.
Phone number: 025-85601166.
Fax: 025-85601177.
Capacity: 134 rooms.

Lunch: I went to the famous snack street of Nanjing - The Shizhiqiao Snack Street (in the Hunanlu street) and tried the duck cutlets & silk noodles soup (Laoyafensitang). It is very delicious. This Shizhiqiao Snack Street is not a big street but it has so many famous restaurants of Nanjing.

In the afternoon, I visited the Nanjing office of the president. (cost 40 rmb). The address is: 292 Changjianglu street, Nanjing. Office hours: 7:30 - 18:30 (04/15 to 10/15); 8:00 - 17:30 (10/16 to 04/14). You can get here by the city bus ( Line 3, 29, 44, 65, 95, 304, You 1, You2). The You 1 bus is available at the Nanjing railway station.

Dinner: I had my dinner at the snack street near the Nanjing Confucius Temple. The Cou Tofu and Chidou Yuanxiao are very good there. You can see the colored lantern show and firework show there if you are interested in these. A lot travellers are there watching the shows and it is a little bit crowded. NanjingThe second day:
My plan for the morning is to visit the famous Yishang Hotspring in Nanjing. (office hours: 09:00 - 01:00) This place is about 25 kilometers far away from the Nanjing railway station. To get here, you can take the Line 309 city bus to the terminal station first, then transfer to the city bus Line 123.

Some tips:
(1). Do not bring your DC or cell phone here, there is a lot of water vapour in the air and they won't work in this place.
(2). You can buy your tickets online. This will help you to save money and time when you get here. (You need to print the e-ticket out.)
(3). The best time to visit the Yishang Hotspring is the morning and it will be very crowded if you come here in the afternoon or night.

After lunch, I went to the Jiming Temple of Nanjing. I thought it is the buddhist monks' temple but when I got there, I found out that it is a buddhist nuns' temple. You can make a wish here if you want.

At 16:00, I caught the train (16:27) to go back to Shanghai.

Here is a list of the expenses in Nanjing:
Train from Shanghai to Nanjing: 93 rmb.
Train from Nanjing to Shanghai: 93 rmb.
Jingjiang Inn: 189 rmb for a 2 beds room.
Nanjing office of the president: 40 rmb.
Yishang Hotspring: 138 rmb (105 rmb if you buy it online).
Jiming Temple: 5 rmb.
